Temple Tantri and Poojari's

Brahmasree Puthumana Sreedharan Namboothiri was marked with greatness and blessed by his very birth. Born in the Puthumana family to Brahmasree Damodaran Namboothiri and Parvathi Andarjanam, he grew up surrounded by great scholar, priests and poets. Not unusual in the household that belonged to the main tantries of the famous Ambalapuzha Sree Krishna Temple.

Centuries ago this task was managed by the Kadiakal Tantries. But a great ancestor of the Puthumana Illium, so impressed the Chembakasheri kings with his knowledge and skill that he was made the main tantri of the temple. The Puthumana family thus, has for centuries now been responsible for overlooking the ceremonies and upkeep of the temple.

Having inherited this great legacy from his father, to make it, his life's work was not the initial ambition of Brahmasree Puthumana Sreedharan Namboothiri. After completing his school education he graduated in Physics (honors), he decided to look for a conventional job like his two brothers. But life had other plans, he felt a inner call which urged him to follow on his father's footsteps and uphold the great tradition of his family. Having become a tantri he soon gained great prestige in this field. Today he is the tantri for several great temples in Kerala and all over India . In Delhi , itself he serves at more than six temples including the famous Sree Dharma Saastha temple, Pushpvihar.

The sincerity, devotion and great skill with which he conducts various ceremonies, is a sight which is deeply moving for all devotees, who have had the honour of witnessing it.

Puthumana illam has always been a great centre of learning, where most of the priests of today have gained all or part of their knowledge of ritual and ceremony, Brahmasree Puthumana Sreedharan Namboothiri is also involved in imparting these ancient teaching. Not only is he himself a great repository of knowledge and tradition, but has become a key figure in dispersing and therefore preserving the same.

To have such a great figure amidst us is a true blessing and we pray that he continues to illuminate the world with his presence.
